What should a new player learn first?

Learn the defensive vocabulary before chasing advanced damage. Xbox Wire’s official-platform feature describes block, parry, Deflect, Issen, blade interactions, and Reflex Dodge as distinct choices. That is enough to build a safe practice order without inventing frame counts or boss-specific rules.

  1. Block first. It is the easiest way to observe an unfamiliar attack, though blocked hits cost stamina.
  2. Add parries. A timed block can turn defense into an opening.
  3. Understand Deflect. It combines blocking with an attack input and focuses on stamina damage.
  4. Keep dodge available. The official feature notes that some attacks cannot be parried or deflected.
  5. Practice Issen last. It asks for an attack just before the enemy blow lands and has a tighter window than a parry.

What does this guide deliberately omit?

We do not yet publish chapter routes, boss openings, best-build claims, exact timing windows, or performance recommendations. Those require owned gameplay evidence or stronger confirmation than is currently available.

Continue with Parry vs Deflect, the Issen basics guide, or the platform overview.
